Other quick bits
- An Inquirer editorial looks at the residency requirement for city employment and wonders whether there might be benefits to letting people move here *after* they're hired, if need be.
- The Daily News opinion page looks at the terrible "compromise bill" on gun control (which covers only Philadelphia, and thus would allow plenty of guns in from the suburbs and elsewhere) and calls state legislators (esp. Vince Fumo) on their attempt at cheap but meaningless political cover.
- The CityPaper political note watches Sen. Santorum work the pro-Israel crowd.
- And finally, D-Mac at Philadelphia Will Do takes a humorous look at local boosterism efforts. I love it when officials try to look hip. Ringtones indeed...

I hope Friday's news includes an account of the late Thursday vote in the Senate to raise the mininum wage to $7.15, although more slowly than the House bill and especially slowly for employees of employers with 10 or less employees.
The House Bill is a lot better than the Senate Bill, but the Senate Bill is a lot better than nothing. Strong opponents of any minimum wage increase at any time are hoping that the two bills will cancel each other out and nothing will actually happen.
We are scheduling a press conference for Democratic legislative leaders and others in Harrisburg on Monday, June 26, at the first break of the day (about 1:30 p.m.)to discuss our plans to force action before we recess for the summer.
